Earlier this year we lost a dear friend to cancer. Over the next ~6 months a group of us are collectively swimming 555km (circumnavigating Mallorca) echoing Phil's own fundraising swimathon back in 2020 to try and raise 10,000 Euros to donate to the Spanish not-for-profit Fundación Fero.
Since its inception in 2001, the Foundation, working closely with the National Institutes of Cancer Research in both Madrid and London, has financed world-leading, cutting-edge translational research undertaken by the brightest molecular and genomic scientists, for a future without cancer, and Philip told us this is where he wanted all of our efforts to go.
Today I swam 10,000m in my local pool (100x100m) to bump up the distance before the pools shut for Xmas. Also a great way to burn a few calories before overindulging at Xmas!
